How to Take Better Pictures for Your Instagram

Have you ever gotten mad because you weren’t able to take any good pictures for your social media accounts? Well, then this is the article for you. In this article, I will be writing about simple and easy ways for you to take better pictures and level up your Instagram feed.

Rule of Thirds

Whenever you are taking a picture of someone or something, you would think the person is supposed to be right in the middle of the frame, right? But actually many photographers have proven how it is much more interesting and aesthetically pleasing to place the subject more to either side of the frame.

Imagine there is a grid while taking pictures, place your subject on either the left or right side. This will create a much more interesting composition and will attract more viewers.

Use a Frame

By using a frame, I mean taking a picture from behind a door or a window. Any kind of portal will create this feeling of actually being in the picture.

If this frame wasn’t there, the picture would be a lot more boring. You can even use tree branches or even your fingers to create a frame. This unique technique will help give that little sparkle to your pictures

Leading Lines

If around the environment you’re taking pictures in you are able to find some kind of lines that lead you to the subject, it will make your picture so much more pleasing to the eyes.

Wherever you go, you will see some kind of lines, and by placing your subject right where these lines lead your eyes, you will create this feeling of depth. This technique isn’t usually used when taking portraits, but it could still work on some occasions.

Patterns (break the pattern)

Patterns are very aesthetically pleasing and they definitely help in creating an interesting composition. But breaking the pattern by placing your subject in that background will create an even better picture.

If you are able to find some kind of wall or pavement that has a repeating pattern on it, have your subject lay down or stand in front of that pattern. As shown in the picture above, this will place the viewer’s concentration on the subject.

Get closer instead of zooming

Yes, you heard me. I know, I also thought that by zooming everything would look better. But in reality, the best zoom you have is your legs. Try to get closer to the subject instead of zooming with your camera, especially when taking pictures of objects. When taking pictures of people, it might be a little uncomfortable to get extremely close. But if you are able to get closer instead of excessively zooming, then you will notice how more professional your pictures will look.

Colors

Lastly, try to set a specific color tone in your profile. If you are taking pictures for your Instagram account, try to find a specific color tone throughout all of your pictures. This will make your account seem neater and more uniform.
