Are You Happy to be Back to School?

This week the student blog interviewed some 9th grade students about their opinions on their return to campus. We asked them what was the thing which they were most looking forward to once coming back to school, as well as what was something that they would like to improve about the new covid measures.

Regarding if they were happy about being back on campus, most students replied that they were excited to finally see their friends again and to be able to socialize with them. Other's, like Lavinia Fanfoni had a different kind of answer, as she said that she is very excited to be attending classes in person as it is way more interesting and efficient like so. She goes on to say “it is nice to have some kind of normality in our day to day life”.

On the other hand, some students had some ideas on what they would like to change upon their return to school. For example, a few of the students which we interviewed, Alessandro Borgonovo, Riccardo Colle and Ikloe Kantzelis claimed that even if they understand why it has been denied, being able to play soccer at recess is what they miss most and what they would change as soon as new covid measures are adopted. Iraklis explained how not playing soccer is now harder than ever, as during the school day students cannot socialise and hang out in the hallways as they were always able to do. Having said that most of the girls instead talked about wanting for changes in lunch to be made. Ludovica Mantovani and Angelica Dolfi both agreed that it would be nice if we could choose who to sit with, but they understand that us not being able to do so, along with other covid restrictions have been taken to ensure our safety. Sara Viola had a different answer to this question, as she imagined it would be nice if we could integrate more frequent lessons about mental health given by Mr. Stullman, especially in this period of hardship.

Overall all the students are extremely happy to be back on campus and are very grateful for the rules that were taken to protect them, their families and their teachers. We are all very grateful for the hard work that the school has done to allow for us to be able to come back to campus in the safest way possible.
